As we enter the festive season, Quant is celebrating another year of news, perspectives and use cases about the future of digital finance.
At the start of the year, our Founder and CEO, Gilbert Verdian, wrote that, “in 2024, we can expect to see further movement towards the implementation of additional regulatory frameworks, more banks harnessing the power of programmability, improved communication between new and existing blockchains and widespread institutional adoption of blockchain technology.”
As we approach the end of 2024, it appears that many of Gilbert’s predictions have come true – particularly in the UK. Significant progress in the digital asset space; the launch of the Digital Securities Sandbox, the government’s announcement to issue a Digital Gilt instrument and the Digital Assets Bill represent the UK’s ambition to become a global hub for securities tokenisation.
In the EU, regulatory frameworks such as MiCA and the DLT Pilot Regime completed several milestones this year, which is evidence that this landscape is evolving and continues to advocate for the institutionalisation of digital assets and money.
Exploration into the future state of payments via projects such as the Regulated Liability Network revealed that the appeal of tokenised money lies within its programmability. And ultimately, the sheer volume of projects, working groups and industry initiatives is testament to the fact that financial services are embracing this technology and acknowledging how it can transform their current infrastructure, processes and services.
That’s what the ‘Why’ section of our website, The Future of Finance. Today, is here for. Every week, experts at Quant and our friends across the industry offer their insights on the future of digital finance. We explore the many use cases of this technology and discuss best practice for implementation, standards and industry collaboration.
To celebrate another year of content, we are dedicating the period of Advent to looking back and remembering some of the many facts we’ve shared in 2024. Each day between tomorrow and Christmas, we will be sharing a new window for you to open and discover the surprise inside.
